Trickery Knit-a-Long! Time to Cast On

Yarn? check

Needles? check.

Pattern? check

Coffee? double check

Bad kitties bribed distracted with mackerel so they leave me alone for 10 minutes? Oh absolutely.

Then I guess we can get started with our Trickery Knit-A-Long!

Today I’m casting on for another Trickery. Its a stole made with two balls of fingering weight yarn. My last one looked like this:

trickery - a knit stole

Want to join me? Let me rephrase that… You really want to join me, right? It will be fun. Knit-a-longs always are. And Trickery is easier than it looks. The whole thing is knits, purls, and slipped stitches. Its not actually color work; its stripes. Yep, just two rows of one color and then two rows of the next color. Its tricky like that.

You can grab a copy of the pattern over on Ravelry or at any yarn store that sells ravelry patterns. If you get it today (by 11:59 CST Sept 4th), it will be on sale, $2 off with this code: Im-so-tricky.

So grab your coffee and yarn and pattern and be sure to distract the furry little monsters that live in your home with their favorite food and let’s start the Trickery Knit-A-Long. Cuz I’m ready!

This time around I’m using Only One – Silk by Bronotta Yarn. It working up very nice I think.

The Trickery Stole knit-a-long: on Row 22

I’m on Row 23. And I do love how the silk in this yarn makes the bumpy texture if the pattern really stand out.

I would LOVE to see pictures of how your Trickery’s are working up. Technically you should be able to upload an image easy-peasy. But it doesn’t seem to work for some people/browsers. It does work for others. I’ve been sending messages to the folks that make the little plug-in for this feature and after a week or so of breathless waiting, they tell me they no longer support this program and have a nice day.

Arg.

So maybe you can get a pretty picture posted and maybe not. I do have a back-up plan but it requires loading new software. I’ll get that done as soon as I get a chance (maybe this evening). Save me some snaps as you make your stoles. I’ll get this pictures-in-the-comments-thingy worked out eventually and then I’ll be wanting to see some pictures.

Saturday Morning update!

Well then! I might just have to check my stash after I finish these gauntlets!

Eyeing that first part, and thinking it might make a really neat hat for the Alaska project. Thoughts? I just found a ball of hand spun…50/50 cormo and wolf. Thinking it would be a fun hat!

Huh. That would be interesting. If you needed to convert it from worked-flat to work-in-the-round… then all the stitching on the even numbered rows/rounds would need to be reversed. Knits are purls & purls are knits. The Odd numbered rows/round should remain the same. i think.
