A few weeks ago I came across a wonderful little website called yarnsub.com. It ate up a few hours of my life (good websites always do!) and it made me think hard about how, when, and why I substitute one yarn for another.

Rarely. I always stick to the recommended weight but I go with yarn I know and like.
